Restoration is built one step, one relationship, and one act of kindness at a time.
For Melanie (name changed for privacy), this season has been one of rebuilding. As she continues moving forward on her journey of healing, she is also creating a home that reflects the hope, stability, and future she is working so hard to build. Sometimes, the smallest changes to a home can become meaningful reminders that a new chapter has begun.
Recently, a team of women from King of Glory Church partnered with Harbour Hope for a Serve Day, bringing their time, talents, and servant hearts to Melanie’s home. Together, they painted a bedroom, installed kitchen cabinet handles, and completely rearranged the home’s layout so Melanie could move into the primary bedroom. Every detail was completed with care—from measuring and drilling cabinet hardware to carefully moving furniture and cleaning each room before they left.
What made the day especially memorable wasn’t just what was accomplished—it was how it was accomplished.
As the volunteers worked, worship music filled the home. They sang praises together, encouraged one another, and prayed throughout the project, creating an atmosphere of joy and peace. Although Melanie couldn’t be there in person, she joined the team through a video call, offering input on the room layout and meeting the women who had volunteered their Saturday to serve her. Seeing the transformation unfold in real time, she expressed heartfelt gratitude for the kindness she was shown.
This is the impact of community. When people choose to use their gifts to serve others, they communicate something powerful: You matter. Your future matters. You don’t have to rebuild alone.
Through partnerships like this, practical needs become opportunities to cultivate dignity, hope, and belonging. A freshly painted room becomes a place to dream again. A functional kitchen becomes a space where memories can be made. A home becomes a place that reflects healing instead of hardship.

Your compassion, generosity, and willingness to walk alongside a survivor made a lasting impact that extends far beyond a day’s work, encouraging Melanie that there is a community cheering her on as she continues her healing journey.
