A Place of Peace

Healing is built through relationships, consistency, and a community willing to walk alongside survivors and their families on their journey toward restoration. Sometimes that journey looks like practical support that creates space for hope to take root.

For Kenzie (name changed for privacy), home had become a place where healing still felt out of reach. There were repairs that needed to be made, spaces that felt overwhelming, and reminders of the past that made it difficult to fully embrace the future she was working toward. Creating a home that felt safe, peaceful, and welcoming became an important step toward healing.

Recently, a team of volunteers from Lakeside Church came alongside Kenzie to help meet those practical needs. Together, they completed repairs and improvements throughout her home, transforming it into a space that was safer and more welcoming. But the greatest transformation wasn’t found in the freshly repaired walls—it was found in the relationships being built.

As the day unfolded, trust continued to grow. Kenzie found the courage to release belongings she had held onto for years and welcomed others into parts of her home she had previously kept closed. What began as a day of service became another step in her journey from crisis toward restoration. Through the faithful presence of a caring community, God continued His work of bringing healing, freedom, and hope.

One of the simplest gifts became one of the most meaningful—a new bed.

Later, Kenzie shared,

“My bed is my favorite place in this world. I have been sleeping so comfortably and I noticed I don’t toss and turn as much. It’s just peaceful.”

Those words remind us that restoration is often experienced in everyday moments. For someone rebuilding after trauma, peaceful rest is more than comfort—it is a reflection of safety, stability, and the opportunity to flourish.

To our friends at Lakeside Church, thank you for being part of the hope that heals. Your willingness to serve created more than a refreshed home—it created a haven for healing, anchored in hope. Because you chose to show up with compassion and generosity, Kenzie experienced the love of Christ in tangible ways, reminding her that she is seen, valued, and never alone.
