In 2007, while watching a movie about human trafficking, Cyndi was shocked to learn it was not fiction—but a harsh reality. Seeing real statistics on-screen gripped her heart and pushed her to research more.
“At first, it was total disbelief—just trying to grasp that slavery still exists today at greater levels than ever before. It was heartbreaking to realize people could treat others this way. And even harder was coming to terms with the idea that God still loves everyone involved, even the traffickers. That continues to challenge me deeply.” – Cyndi
She searched for ways to help locally, and at a women’s event, she discovered Harbour Hope and their survivor mentoring program.
“When I first learned about trafficking, I had been praying for over a year about what my ‘thing’ was—my calling. And I felt God say, ‘This is it.’”
“It’s been deeply fulfilling. I’ve gone through Harbor Hope’s training several times and now help lead parts of it. It’s Spirit-led and filled with practical wisdom I use in daily life. God’s taught me so much about grace and forgiveness.”
Awareness is the first step to change. Cyndi’s experience shows how an informed and compassionate community can make a real difference. Once people know the truth, they’re moved to act—and that’s how we start breaking the cycle.
